Erik Torreon grew up on Aztlan Farms in the outer fringes of the Greater Rivertown area, but grew bored with the agricultural lifestyle. He read voraciously from a pocket Titan Reader that, when woken from its sleep state, had a splash screen claiming that it held "all the books that mattered in history (and some that didn't)" as well as boasted an "eternal battery life," though Erik worries that it will one day run out. He is particularly fond of the novels of Samantha Sylvester, a popular pulp writer from the 2040s featuring her recurring protagonist Hector Gamble.
A traveler heading towards the city stayed a night at Aztlan Farms and introduced Erik to the psychedelic drug jack. Though Aztlan Farms fared better than most locations after the apocalypse, Erik was stunned at the beauty and splendor of his home when under the influence of the drug, as it coincided with the lavish descriptions of the world he had read about in old books. Erik set out after the traveler, seeking to procure more jack and eventually found his way to downtown Rivertown, where he scratches out an existence from day to day.
